Description

“PLANT of HEALTH” ROOT EXTENDER Beneficial Mycorrhiza Fungi – Root Stimulant and Root attaching filaments that increase nutrient access. Plant of Health ROOT EXTENDER, a mycorrhiza fungi (Greek for fungus roots) is the result of a symbiotic association between a fungus and a plant. This symbiosis takes place at the root level, where individual hyphae extending from the fungus colonise the roots of the host. This symbiotic association provides the fungus with a renewable source of food through access to fixed carbon (sugars) from plant as a result of photosynthesis. In return, the plant gains the use of the mycorrhiza tremendous surface area to absorb mineral nutrients from the soil. ROOT EXTENDER mechanisms of increased absorption are both physical—mycorrhizal mycelia are much smaller in diameter than the smallest root hair and thus are able to explore a greater volume of soil and have a much larger surface area for absorption—and chemical—the cell membrane chemistry of fungi is different from that of plants. Mycorrhizae are especially beneficial for the plant partner in nutrient poor soils. Furthermore, plants grown with ROOT EXTENDER are generally more resistant to diseases, such as those caused by microbial soil-borne pathogens, and are also more resistant to the effects of drought. Root Extender filaments can reach many metres beyond those of hoist plant roots. Plants grown in sandy, sterile soils and growth media often perform poorly without the addition of spores of Root Extender fungi to assist and stimulate the plant roots and aid in the uptake of soil mineral nutrients. This make Root Extender ideal for production nursery applications or when planting in sandy soils. Root Extender is essential for re vegetation of graded or mined landscapes due to the ability to source nutrient for the plant as well as the improvement of soil structure. The absence of mycorrhizal fungi can also slow plant growth in early succession or on degraded landscapes. BENEFITS - Encourages Root development – Ideal for Potted Plants - Fungal Filaments attach to roots to increase moisture and nutrient access to plant. - Improved Soil Structure - Helps solubilise nutrient. - Increased drought tolerance with larger root network - Excellent for turf and greens - Increases disease resistance - Suitable For All Plants and Crops - Essential for plant production nurseries - Essential for establishment of plants in new landscapes.
